Sophi's 13th Birthday!

Born: July 30, 2000

5 lbs. 13 oz., 19 in. long

Sophi was our smallest baby and our only baby with tons of dark hair. She was so cute!

And she was also very colicky... 

Sophia was born with attitude and a huge personality! I am so proud of the young woman she is growing into. I often say that she is an old soul stuck in a young body...she just gets life. She loves people and has a very nurturing way about her. She has an amazing ability to reach out to others, especially those in need of a friend. This is something she has been recognized for time and time again. Sophia is not afraid of bullies and will go out of her way to stand up for those being bullied...but while doing so knows just what to say to a bully in a lighthearted, non confrontational way. She was recognized for this great ability while a 7th grader at Mountain View Middle School. It was amazing to me that the counselor there would take time out of her day to recognize Sophi for this, and then take the time to make a personal phone call to me. It was definitely a proud mommy moment. 

Sophia has always beat to her own drum. In this way she is a great leader. She is not interested in what is popular or the "norm". She makes her decisions based on her heart . This is something I greatly admire about her.

For her birthday this year she wanted to have a bunch of friends over to roast s'mores. They ended up going on a neighborhood scavenger hunt and got some weird looks when they asked people if they could have a piece of fruit, or pose with their dog, or sing them a song. It was pretty funny to hear their stories when they got back home. And her funniest birthday present of the evening was from Brevin, who gave her her own block of cheese. I know there's a story behind it...

Our awesome friend Paige wanted to make Sophia an Apple Braid for her birthday. And since Sophi isn't much of a cake lover, this became her birthday treat. Thanks, Paige! 

It was delish!
