Ivy really wanted to get baptized right after she turned 8 in June, but we had made plans months earlier to be in Georgia over 4th of July, which is exactly when the baptisms for June birthday's were taking place. She cried when she realized that she would have to wait until August. "I can wait. It's not the end of the world.", she said after she had calmed down a bit.
What a sweetie!
And the wait was worth it! She had lots of friends and family come to support her in her decision to be baptized as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Matt gave her a wonderful blessing as he laid his hands on her head and gave her the gift of the Holy Ghost. Ivy said she felt all warm and happy inside, which is exactly how it feels to have the spirit with you at all times and in all places. This is a gift that I am SO grateful to have in my own life. And I am grateful that Ivy has it to lead and guide her in her life as well.
I am so grateful for my Ivy and for the example of sweetness and kindness and love that she is.
After Ivy's baptism we invited everybody over for a feast, inspired by all of her favorite foods. Homemade mac-n-cheese, asparagus, salad, chicken nuggets and strawberry cheesecake were on the menu. And a feast it was! Almost nothing remained once the party ended. A sign of good grub, right?!?
I am grateful beyond words for our friends and family that support us in both the big and little happenings in our lives. Their great examples of love and kindness mean the world and their being part of this day made us feel so loved. And we missed our out of state family that we know would have been here if they could have been. Wow, we sure are blessed.

YAY!!! So happy for Ivy and so happy I was able to be there. It was awesome! LOVE HER!
Even though Jake turned 8 in Feb, it is hard to believe that Ivy is that old too. I still think of her as a sweet little sunbeam. Congrats and wonderful choice Ivy!
