For Labor Day we had planned to go hiking with the Oberg family to the tram over by OHSU, then ride the tram down the hill, walk to the trolley...make a day out of exploring Portland. But we found out that the tram is closed on all major holidays, so that ruined that plan. Another time for sure though! Luckily we thought quick and decided to go check out Glen Otto City park in Troutdale. This is a little spot of river that I have been wanting to check out for a while, so it worked out perfectly. And the kids were much more excited about the idea of swimming over hiking. I loved the river. The kids had a great time. Downstream the current was a little stronger, and there's drop off, so that was a little bit stressful. But for the most part this city park was a great place to hang out. And it's free with two lifeguards on duty. Next time I think we'll drive a little further up the River to Dabney State Park. From what I hear there is very little current there to worry about, so the kids can swim without a freaked out mother snapping at them.
As always it was a blast hanging out with the Oberg's!
