Folding

I've finally decided how the kids can be most helpful when it comes to the laundry.

I know I'll need them to step it up a little once I start school. But I know I'm not ready to hand it over completely.

A friend let me in on what she does to get her kids to help with laundry and I felt like it would really work and still gave me control of the machines.

So, I wash and dry the laundry, then divide it up into baskets. Each kid gets their own. Their own laundry goes into it. They are expected to fold and put it away. It's going to become part of their daily room sweep. I think this will work out very well.

I feel that Ivy is a little too young to take it on herself, so for now I'm folding her stuff. Maybe in another year I'll have her join in the fun. She can help sort socks until then.

The kids have been really good about it. And I know that I can't expect perfection in their folding skills.

I like that they are taking on more responsibility. And maybe once they realize that folding laundry can be time consuming, they  might think twice before putting those only worn once pajama bottoms into their laundry basket.

This is going to be a very good thing!

here' are my laundry tips. Kaila (4) folds all my wash cloths and hand towels. Ivy could do that too along with the socks. Also, I have the stained clothes tied in a knot so I know they need to be sprayed before being washed. I have the sock once they are off feet balled up. I put a clothes pin on the socks as I put them in the laundry. If one falls off there are just two loose socks. It makes doing socks SO MUCH easier and there is no matching socks anymore. A huge time saver. Just thought I would pass along some tips I've received and have LOVED!

Tonya, let Ivy give it a try. Teagen folds his own stuff. It makes him feel so proud of himself.
