A few weeks ago
Rylie and Sophia started back into piano lessons after a 6 month break. I missed hearing them practice and was not about to let them lose all the
skills they had learned during the year they took previously. It has been good and they seem to be enjoying it.
Rylie is working on "Winnie The Pooh" and Sophia is working on " A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes". Sometimes I feel like a Nazi Mom about piano, but I totally regret not having the opportunity to learn when I was a kid, so I guess I am living through my girls on this one. One day they will thank me, right?

This is what the kids were doing while Matt and I played a mean game of Settlers Of
Catan with our friends Julie and Glenn. This is just one of the many costumes that they modeled for us that night.

I have been on the quest for a cute, modest swimsuit since last summer. Just a few days ago I did a Google for "modest swimsuit" and a bunch of sites came up. Lime Ricki is one I had never heard of before. The company was started by three Mormon sisters after a tough day at the mall trying to find swimsuits for themselves and their
pre-teen daughters. I am in love! Cute, hip, modest swimsuits for a reasonable price. I ordered one of the sale ones and I am so excited to get it! Hopefully it looks good on my hot bod:0)
Rylie and Sophia both entered into the Errol
Hassell Science Fair this year and did some fun experiments. I am SO MAD that I totally forgot my camera and got NO shots of their projects. Dang it!
Rylie tested 5 different cereals to see which one would get soggy the fastest. Sophia took 7 different colors of nail polish and painted them on 6 different colors of paper to see how the colors were affected. I was proud of my little scientists!

I committed to do the Portland to Coast and I am so excited! I have never done anything like this in my life. I just found out last year that there was a walking relay that went along with the Hood to Coast relay. As soon as I found out I knew I would do it this year. I need to get training on my speed walking skills! The rules are that you cannot run, only walk or speed walk, and if you are caught running there is a time
consequence of 90 minutes for the whole team. I am on a team of 12 with some AWESOME people. This will be a blast and some very hard work as well. Matt and the kids will meet me in Seaside, where the relay ends. I am assuming I will be exhausted, but I am hoping that we will get to play on the beach for awhile before heading home. The race starts Friday morning and doesn't end until Saturday afternoon sometime. CRAZY!

Matt had just gotten home from riding his motorcycle, so Eli put on Matt's riding gear and put on his COOL face:0)

This last weekend I got to go to Lincoln City with our church Young Women's group. It was a lot of fun! I was in charge of doing a craft, so I taught the girls how to make homemade lip gloss. They seemed to enjoy that. I found a cool recipe online that used petroleum jelly, honey and unsweetened
Kool-Aid. It worked great and tasted awesome! I had a blast hanging out with all the girls. We had some great discussions and I came away feeling spiritually uplifted. I know the girls did too. Girl bonding time is the best!!! Thanks to my awesome mom-in-law and my sweet hubby for taking care of our
bambinos so I could go.

Here's a bunch of the girls just before we played the candy bar game. I want my Kit-Kat back!

We enjoyed some team building games on the beach on Friday. This is my cute group. Our challenge was to come up with a sand castle that had a scriptural theme so we decided to do Jonah and The Whale. It turned out pretty cool and we won the challenge!
***side note*** When I got home on Saturday night Matt had made arrangements for us to go on a hot date at a very cool restaurant called
Amadeus at the
Fernwood in
Milwaukie. I was exhausted after not sleeping more than three hours at the beach the night before, but was flattered when he called me on my cell phone while I was driving home to ask me out on a date. Made me blush! I seriously have the best husband ever!
Rylie was a sweetie and babysat the kids so we could go. What a great weekend!

loved your post...and to see you working with the YW in the Aloha 1st Ward reminds me of when you worked with the 8 year olds in our Ward when Bethany was that age...8 years ago almost!
The beach trip sounded great! Which beach did you go to?
Oh and as far as the piano lessons go..it's so worth pushing your kids. And YES they will thank you for pushing them. Now that Sean is off to Germany I sure miss hearing him play. Bethany and Robbie never could get interested enough in playing but Becky Sean did.
You do have a nice husband...what a great idea to take you out and to think that Rylie is big enough to baby sit...oh my gosh.. good times
Sounds like a fun weekend! I love hearing what's going on with you guys. How great that Rylie can babysit for you now! I can't wait for that day...actually, I can because I really want my kids to stop growing up~it's all going way to fast! Good luck on the walk. Ben's dying to run the hood to coast and is very bummed none of the family can do it with him since it's the same weekend as a big show for them. He'll find a group...someday and someyear.
i'm so glad you posted! all sounds exciting. way to go on comitting to the relay. very cool. matt sounds like a neat person. i'm happy you're happy!
It all sounds so fun! I wish I could've been at the beach- I'm so glad I got to see pictures from it! And that is so cute that he called and asked you on a date!
I sure have a lot to say about this post. Two of my girls have Lime Ricki swimsuit. I love them and the girls love them. Every time they wear them I think to myself, I need to remember to blog about this. And then I forget. I'm glad you did. Makenzie did the same exact science project as Rylie. That was a fun one. I'm excited about PTC too! Our team rocks! We are going to kick some major booty!
You've been busy having lots of fun! That's great! I'm going to go check out that swimsuit website right now!
Tonya,
