Rylie Ann Gold
Born: June 27, 1998 @ 3:40 P.M.
8 lbs. 2 oz., 20 inches long.
I remember when Rylie was born and everybody would tell me how quickly time goes by. Cherish every minute they told me. And I've tried. Being a first time parent was hard work and so much more emotionally and physically draining then I could have imagined. But I can honestly say that every minute I have spent being a mother...and the best mother I can be, has been so worth it. My kids are my greatest joy. And being their mother has been one of the most rewarding accomplishments of my life.
Rylie made being a first time mom so easy. She was so easy to love! Little miss kick back, go with the flow. And she hardly ever cried. I remember one time when she was about 18 months old, she came to me and put her little hand in mine and proceeded to walk me to her crib. She reached up for me to hold her and then lunged onto her mattress, pulled her favorite blanket close, stuck her thumb in her mouth and then looked up at me and smiled.
Fast forward about 14 years later and Rylie still loves her sleep. Is not a morning person at all and loves to stay up until the wee hours of the night.
Her favorite food is Indian. She loves ice cream, shopping, high fashion, hair and make-up.
She loves funky, no name alternative bands. Just like her mommy and daddy.
And I can't forget to mention her love for One Direction...the one big time band she digs.
Rylie is also a city girl. She loves the business of Portland and dreams of living in New York City some day. Where she got that we have no idea. For we are much more partial to the country or the suburbs.
When she grows up she wants to work with the mentally insane in the prison system, or if that doesn't work out she would love to do costume design and make-up on movie sets.
Rylie is a woman of mystery.
And that's what makes her unique and fun to talk to!
It's been so much fun to watch my oldest baby grow up. I can't believe she towers over me by 2 inches now. Yikes!
Rylie desires to do what is right and to be a good friend. She is a great listener and is one of the most non judgmental people I know.
And she is my sweet daughter and very much worth celebrating.
Happy 15th Birthday, Ryles!
On her actual birthday we spent the day together. Just the two of us.
For lunch we ate at Swagats, an amazing little Indian restaurant close to home. Then we drove into Portland to do some shopping and get some ice cream at Salt & Straw. The Almond Brittle with Sea Salt Ganache was amazingly delish. What a fun filled day!
Rylie and her friends at the House of Vintage.
Rylie also wanted to celebrate her birthday with good friends. And the one thing she wanted to do was take them to The Waffle Window in Portland. If you haven't experienced The Waffle Window on Hawthorne, it's a Portland must do!
And the people watching on Hawthorne is some of the best.
Not to mention all of the amazing vintage shops in the area.
Teenage girls are so fun to hang out with.
I laughed and laughed as they talked incessantly about Harry Stiles from One Direction and his 4 nipples. Then we laughed about the word nipple.
They even had a picture to prove it.
Oh, the funny things in life:)
