Our Favorite Place on Earth!

Mexico is definitely one of our very favorite places.

Over the long memorial Day weekend we went to Akumal, Mexico with our besties, Scott and Allison Oberg.

They really are the best!

We had a FANTASTIC time.

After many hours of traveling we made it to the Cancun airport. Just a quick hour bus ride to Playa del Carmen, then another 20ish minutes in a taxi and we were at our destination.

The people of Playa del Carmen.

First stop in Playa was to the hotel Playa Maya to get fish tacos and ceviche, served right on the beach.

Eating lunch with toes in sand is magical.

Yes!

The only thing I forgot was my sunglasses.
Better than forgetting my swim suit...I have done that before.

After lunch we got a taxi and arrived at our hotel destination:

The Catalonia Royal Tulum.
Gorgeous lobby!

It feels so nice to have no agenda. Nowhere to be. For 5 whole days!!!

The hotel grounds were absolutely breathtaking.

A cenote right on the hotel grounds. So beautiful.

Cool bridge that led to the pool and the beach.

 Beach at the hotel.

It was probably one of the most picturesque I've ever seen.

These little guys were everywhere...can't remember what they're called, but it sounds kind of like Peyote.

  The pool was amazing!

This was our first time at an all inclusive.

We all agreed that the food was good, but not to die for.

Scott & Allison on a catamaran ride.

It was pretty windy that day.

Mexican Pole Dancer's in Playa del Carmen.

A cool new statue in Playa del Carmen.

We took a taxi there one night so we could buy souvenirs. We ended up eating dinner there as well. It was by far our favorite meal. Real Mexican food makes us so happy!

One day we took a taxi to Akumal Bay. This is a great place to snorkel and scuba dive. Tons of sea turtles hang out here. Oh, and lots of iguanas, too!

One day Matt and I would like to live in a sleepy little Mexican town such as this.

Crab on the beach.

I will NEVER take another bare foot walk on the beach at night. It was terrifying trying to dodge all the, sand colored, baby crabs that kept scurrying at our feet. I cried while Matt doubled over laughing at me as I jumped and screamed and tried to get away from the beasts.
