It was strange waking up on Christmas morning realizing that we wouldn't be celebrating with the Tripp family. We missed hanging out with them. And the kids were extra sad that they wouldn't get to see their cousins from my side of the family that day.
But it's a rare event to have the whole Gold clan together on Christmas. The last time it happened was at least ten years ago, so our change of plans was worth it.
We spent the morning together. Just the 6 of us.
The kids waiting for Mommy to get out of bed. I love these little monkey's so much!
Matt has a way with words. And he melts me.
Christmas morning breakfast McMuffins (of the homemade variety) and OJ. Delish.
The BEST Christmas card I've ever been given. Ever!
I love you, Matt.
Let's see. Favorite gifts. Matt: Having my whole family come into town, Tonya: Really, hanging with the Gold family was the best!, Rylie: My "Wreck This Journal", Sophia: Taylor Swift Wonderstruck perfume. I wear it everyday!, Eli: My longboard, Ivy: One Direction Barbie dolls!
Matt's best gift of the evening was a tie made by his brother Joe. It took me two whole days after Christmas to realize that it was Joe on the tie, not Mr. Bean. I'm being serious. So dang funny!
Sorry, Joe!
And the highlight of Christmas night was watching all the nieces and nephews reenact the Nativity, while Dad read the account from the Bible.
It was precious.
And hilarious!
The part when, little angel, Kiana got smacked in the head by a fly a way basketball and Dad just kept on reading, was the icing on the cake. We've watched the video of it over and over again and we laugh just as hard every time we see it. We may need to send it in to America's Funniest Home Video's!
We figure that the next time the whole Gold family gets together for Christmas there will be lots of new marriages and new grand babies. Who knows how many Gold's there might be! Or how the family dynamics may have changed.
But the scariest part of all, is that there's a good chance Matt and I will be grandparents.
What!?!?!
