No Duff Sitting Allowed
Rylie performed in her last choir concert at Mountain View Middle School. The theme was "Rent". I have never seen Rent, so most of the songs were unfamiliar. But the performance was great. Her teacher, Mrs Herinckx, does an awesome job of allowing the students to sing solos and have fun with their performances. I know Ry will miss middle school, but she is so excited to go to Aloha High School next year. She plans on doing cross country and tennis. I'm glad she wants to get involved! I think it will be good for her and will give her a chance to meet some new friends who are involved in the same activities. I can't believe I will be the mother of a high schooler next year. Yikes!!! And another scary thing: Rylie is officially taller than me.
Eli wanted a break from soccer and has been trying his hand at flag football. So far he's liking it. Not loving it, but liking. He scored a touchdown at one of his first games. That was exciting for sure! But really, Eli isn't much of a team sports kind of guy...so he says anyways. I say it's good for him to participate for exercise as well as learning to work with team mates. He says he wants to run in the fall. But I haven't been able to find a track/cross country team for his age group. My guess is he'll stick with soccer. Who know's?!? I just like him to have the opportunity to try new things. And sitting on his duff isn't an option. Hmmm, maybe he'd like basketball?

This is definitely the time to try new things. Eli will find what he loves that way. You are a good mom for encouraging that. I love Ms. Herinkx as well, she is a great music teacher and choir teacher. Our school is fortunate to have her. And good for Rylie for doing two sports next year. she will make new friends that way and get pictures in the yearbook!
