For Sale

Our house is up for sale. It's true.

It happened quickly. But it's a good thing.

I started school at the end of September. I chose to attend an accelerated program in hair design. And today I found out that I will be ready to graduate on April 18th. Yay!

I have loved every minute of it. It's definitely my thing!

The goal ,when I graduated , was that I would work from home. Meaning we would build onto our house and add a little salon.

Well, that perfect plan ended up not being such a perfect plan.

You see, our house is backed to a green space, which happens to be a protected wetland area.  What we have learned is that a structure must be so many feet away from that wetland area. And to push out the back of our house breaks the law. So, it can't be done. And if it could have worked it was jaw dropping how much it would have cost.

We got that bid, as well as a bid to extend our laundry room and make that my salon. Well, that laundry room wall that could be extended also is a bearing wall, which means that it holds up the house. And all that it could be extended was 16 inches. Not hardly worth the cost.

Our last option was to make our 2 car garage a 1 car garage. This was our least favorite choice. Our house already lacks storage. And while this would work, we just aren't excited about the idea.

So, we decided that since interest rates are so amazingly low right now that it would make more sense to look for another home. Sadly, we have not had any luck finding a house in this area. We've looked and looked and looked! A few weeks ago we decided to expand our search area and a house popped up in Forest Grove. The perfect house! This is where we really wanted to move to about three years ago. We had plans to build a house out there. But because of the way the housing market kept tanking, it just didn't work out to sell our home. Anyways, this house gives me the space I need to have an in home salon. We love the area. And we feel good about the idea of making this move. So, we have put an offer in on that house, which has been accepted. But now we must sell ours.

Life is so crazy sometimes! The last thing I would have thought even two months ago is that we'd be trying once again to move to Forest Grove. And do you know what's funny? When we went to look at the house, it just happened to be right next door to the lot we were planning on building on three years ago. Right next door! But now there's another house there. And this house is built and ready to go. And it's for sale!

Matt and I feel that this could be a great move for our family.

I hope that it will work out. I feel sad to uproot my kids, but I know that they will be alright. I moved about every 4 years growing up, so I know all about having to start over. Rylie is having the roughest time with it right now. And I don't blame her. She'll be in high school next year. And she wants to go with her friends. But,  if we're gonna move we need to do it before she starts school next year. It would be a good transition time. Sophi, Eli and Ivy are excited. Sad some days, but mostly excited.

It would be tough to move away from the awesome friends we have here. And I would miss this house. We've done our best to make it our home. But I also know that we would keep in touch with those we are closest to. And I also know that change can be a good thing.

So, we are being prayerful. We are trying to be wise. And we are trying to do what we feel is right.

And we are trying to be patient. This is the hard part!

So far we've had no bites on our house. We've had a few showings, but nothing serious.

Hopefully we'll get an offer really soon.  Hopefully. And if not, then we'll move onto the next idea.

Whatever that is.

You know, things just seem right. Glad for you, but so sad for us. Happy that Forest Grove's not that far away. Good luck with the sale.
