Matt and Eli in their baptism clothing.
Eli's buddies from school: Benny, Conner, Eli and Aedan
Yesterday Eli chose to be baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He said that he did it because he wants to follow Jesus Christ and be a good example. He also said that he chose to be baptized so he could return to live with our Father in Heaven someday. I'm so happy that he chose to be baptized for those reasons. And the spirit was there. I could feel it.
We had SO MANY family and friends that came to support him.
It's extremely touching to watch a room fill up with the people you love and know that they came because of their love for us. Love makes the world go 'round. At least my world. Even some of Eli's best friends from school, who aren't of our faith, came with their families. So exciting! It was such a fabulous day!
And it was just lovely to have so many family members help out with the program. Thanks everybody!
After the baptism we came back home where we hosted a lunch for family and friends.
At Eli's request we had a Thanksgiving feast. At first I told him he was psycho and that he needed to change his menu, but then I decided that his request was actually precious and that it needed to happen to make his special day complete. And I'm so glad that we did! I wish I would have taken pictures. There was SO MUCH grub! Two turkeys and every fixin' you could want. But I was way smart and delegated out everything but one of the turkeys, so it didn't feel like too much stress. And the food was amazingly yummilicious! There were at least 40 people here. It was crazy fun!
Today at church Eli was officially welcomed in as the newest member of the Aloha 1st Ward. As they read his name he stood up with confidence and then started walking up to the stand with his head held high. It kind of took Steve Ashby, who was presiding over the meeting, by surprise because Eli was just supposed to stand up. But Steve just smiled and said, "You can come up here if you want." So, Eli walked up the stairs to the stand and faced the congregation while Steve shook his hand and welcomed him into the ward. It was very cute!

and what's up with matt's hands around eli's throat? it looks like he's about to strangle him!! lol! it's a sweet picture!
i love all of the reason's eli gave for being baptized! so very sweet!!
Congrats Eli! We're so proud of you! Wish we could have been there, but happy to see pics!
Sorry we missed it- I love that his friends from school came too. Is this Matt getting a jump on his calling? Or Eli simply helping out his old man?
Sorry you had a blue summer. I want to talk about it in person- do you have some time this week you can come over?
Love ya!
that is such a special time for you all and most of all Eli. He sounds like a great missionary in training.
Love you guys
A Thanksgiving feast is so appropriate. Love it! And love that he invited those friends, and that the friends came with their families. So accepting of everybody. With all the religious intolerance going around, I think it's nice that people can support each other's religious beliefs.
congratulations eli! i have to wonder why your ward is called the "aloha" ward? i've been to oregon and hawaii and can honestly say there are few things that two have in common. curious.
