Wellness Check

Yesterday I took Rylie & Sophia to the doctor for their wellness checks.

They were excited about wearing the lovely gowns.

Not.
While we were waiting for Dr. Ruby to come in and well check the girls, I read about the Cholita's in Bolivia.

They fight in skirts. They make 30.00 a match.

It's violent. It makes the women feel in control of their own lives.

It made me cringe and laugh and this picture made me laugh harder.

I never want to be a Cholita.
After Dr. Ruby gushed about how lovely and healthy Rylie and Sophia are it was time for Rylie to get her required Middle School shots. 4 in all!

She actually asked me to hold her hand, which doesn't happen very often now that she's 12.

It made me happy that Rylie still needs her Mommy.

She was so nervous.
This face says it all.

It hurts to get a shot.

When the nurse offered the girls a sticker on our way out I was surprised at how excited they were to pick one out.

Sophia browsed for way too long trying to pick out the perfect one.

I guess a sticker is still a magic cure all for even a 10 and 12 year old.

I'll have to remember that.

Holy cow you have a middle schooler! Sit back and enjoy the ride. I love teaching this age, but it can be a little emotional. Tell me something do you feel like a completely mature parent now, because I still don't and I am hoping it kicks in around when my oldest turns 12. Please.

But Tonya...YOU are a cholita. Fighting for your right to be in control. C'mon, sista!
