On Saturday night Matt and I went on a hot date. We ended up on Belmont St. in Portland thanks to restaurant.com and a really great coupon to India Oven. Can't beat 25.00 off your total of 35.00 or more. And plus India Oven got some nifty reviews on-line. Neither of us frequents Belmont, so we were happy when we saw that it was a fun area with things do so and see. I love Portland.
As we hoped we were not disappointed with the food and the atmosphere was fun. The only funny food mishap was when we ordered the tomato-cucumber salad and it came with what we thought was a yogurt sauce. We wouldn't expect anything else at an Indian restaurant. We have been to a few and yogurt with cucumbers is always on the menu. So, after Matt slathered a bunch on his veggies and took a bite he got this funny look on his face. It sure didn't taste like the yogurt sauce we are used to. When our waiter came back
to the table Matt asked what kind of sauce it was and our waiter replied (now imagine a thick Indian accent),"We call it Ranch." It was pretty hilarious. It's not like it's hard to find plain yogurt in Portland, so this still perplexes us, but whatever.
After dinner we walked around the streets of Portland for awhile. We were going to go into the Avalon Theater and play some games but as we entered there was a big sign that informed us we had to buy a movie ticket before we could go in. We thought about going to see the new Alice In Wonderland, but decided that our bellies were beyond full and that we would rather walk than sit. So, we checked out the Belmont Market and goofed around for awhile. We also found a really cool looking Thai restaurant that we want to go check out sometime soon.We had a blast.
Just like we always do when we're together.
Oh, and please don't forget to commit to excellence. Today.

The naan looks really good. We used a restaurant.com coupon on Saturday evening too. Great minds think alike, huh?
And the ranch, that is so funny.

Thanks Tonya for the great evening. You are the best date ever! Way better than Helga in Sandusky, OH.

mmmm...
I love Indian food.
We love restaurant.com. We haven't been to that restaurant though. Oh and you may have known about this already, but we tried to go to Pasta Veloce a couple weeks ago and found out that it has closed down. =(
