I am happy to report that on Thursday morning Sophia woke up feeling great. And no body else got sick in the night. Woo-hoo! So off to the Oregon Historical Society and History Museum we went. What a cool museum! I don’t consider myself a museum lover, but this one is pretty awesome. It was fun to learn more about Oregon’s history and the docents that took the kids around did an awesome job of making history exciting. I have plans to take the family there. And every third Saturday of every month kids get in free. Cool beans.
Rylie had her girly friends over on Thursday night. Oh my! They ate pizza and gabbed. They watched New Moon and SCREAMED every time they saw Jacob. Which means there was TONS of screaming going on. They played dress up and went outside and did the Macarena for passing cars. They played Band Hero and sang Taylor Swift songs at the top of their lungs. They ate junk food and left over 20 sucker sticks laying on the family room carpet. Not cool. That’s when “kinda mean” Mom had to come out. Once she made her appearance the girls were good and cleaned up their mess. Good thing. I think the girls had a great time. And I’m happy Rylie has such a great group of friends.
Friday morning Ivy celebrated her 5th “Pinkalicious” birthday. There were lots-o-kids here! All the girls were asked to wear pink. They got to decorate pink sun hats. We played a Pinkalicious game and read the Pinkalicious book. They got to play dress up in a cool pop up house our friends let us borrow. They also got to get their fingernails painted. It was awesome having Rylie and Sophia and several of their friends helping out. I couldn’t have done it by myself!
For lunch they ate corn dogs, strawberries and grapes. After lunch Ivy started saying her tummy hurt. About 20 minutes before the end of the party I served up the cake and ice cream and just as everybody was digging in Ivy puked all over the kitchen floor. I felt so bad for her. I felt bad that more than likely it was the flu bug hitting Ivy and all these kids were here being exposed. It was crazy!
But seriously. How am I supposed to know she feels sick when all I see is her playing hard and licking every last crumb off her corn dog stick?
It amazes me that she wasn’t moaning in discomfort before she got sick. And it amazes me that 15 minutes after she puked she was asking for candy. Such resilience! My sister-in-law laughed because she noticed that when Ivy puked all the older party helpers kept commenting how gross it was but kept on chowing on their cake and ice cream while they stared at the mess on the floor.
All the Moms that came to pick up their kids were so nice about it. I apologized over and over about it possibly being the flu. They all said it was life and they weren’t worried about it. I have some awesome and very understanding friends and family.
One Mom even said that her daughter asked her why Ivy’s vomit was pink. She laughed when she told me that and said, “Well, what an exciting end to the party! At least it was pink!”
Ivy did throw up once more that afternoon, but in between was asking again for more candy and also pizza. Seriously child? By Friday night she was doing fine and was mad at me for letting her only eat toast, not the pizza she had been asking for. I’m so glad this flu bug didn’t hit her as hard as it hit Sophia.
And today we had plans to go to the coast with the Gold family, but on our way out the door we discovered we had a flat tire. So, currently Matt is at Les Schwab getting the tire fixed. We’ll see if we make it to Seaside. Never a dull moment.

Wow- you are defiantely in midst of the tween stage... and will stay there for a while with Sophie following all to quick! Glad the puke was pink-- sounds like life is always a party at the Gold house. Look forward to summer so we can come and join in. Love you Tonya!
Fun parties! Karly loves Pinkalicious. What a fun party idea.
I can't believe you all have a daughter old enough to scream over Jacob. That's crazy!
Sounds like you all sure have lots of fun at your house. (even with a pink puker) :)
What a fun filled weekend. I hope no one else gets sick!
my mother in law has a quote in her office that says "life is just so daily" ... i love it. it never ends!
sorry about the pukies. it was nice of you to apologize to the mother's of ivy's friends but the one was right, it's life! the little sick bits are worth the not sick bits when they get to be with their friends celebrating their birthdays!
i think every time we leave our homes we should all applaud ourselves for being such risk takers! who knows, we might just catch the flu.
or not.
I am glad to hear that a mean mom occasionally appears at your house. My kids state that this mom spends the majority of time at our house.
What a fun mom you are! I must admit though that I'm not looking forward to the screaming-over-cute-boys phase!
Yes, be very grateful that Rylie has good friends. It's a huge blessing at this age. Two of my girls do and one does not. Oh, the pain that the one that doesn't goes through. I hate it as a parent. Adorable pictures by the way.
