At the beginning of the school year I wanted to make sure the girls left the house in the mornings on a
positive note. There were some mornings last year that I was not happy about and I am sure Ry and
Soph were not happy about. Mornings that we all wish could be done over. Sometimes I was grumpy. Sometimes the girls were grumpy, which made me grumpy. For the most part our mornings were good, but I felt like I needed to do something this year that would help the mood be more peaceful and would ensure happy, confident kids walking out the front door to face the world each day. Let me back up for a minute. When
Rylie was in kindergarten and 1st grade she was very shy. I worried so much for her. Would she speak up in class? Would she be able to make friends? I'm sure the same worries many Moms face. So almost everyday before she went to school I would say, "
Rylie, believe in yourself". I think she liked it and some days would say, "So Mom, are you going to say it?, but when she got to second grade she would roll her eyes and say, "Mom! Are you going to say that AGAIN?". I could see that she was blossoming and that she wasn't as shy as she had once been, so my quote of the day for her soon became a thing of the past. Well, for this year I thought if I could come up with different quotes of the day each morning the girls wouldn't get bored of it and it would give them a positive way to leave the house each day and that they would be able to reflect upon our quote of the day whenever faced with challenges at school or as a means to maybe cheer another. This has been such a positive addition to our day. Sophia especially has taken to it and will not leave the house until we have thought of a quote. Last Friday my brain was not working so I asked the girls if they had any ideas for what the quote might be. Sophia immediately piped in with, "How about
Live, Laugh, Love?". I asked her what that meant to her and this is what she said. "
Live means to love life & have fun & don't give up on games you don't know how to play.
Laugh means to laugh when you make silly mistakes and
Love means to love everybody even if they are rude to you." I was so impressed with her insights and her understanding of those words. It amazes me how an 8 year old can have such wisdom. So, in honor of my little
Snopapilla, remember this day to
Live, Laugh and Love.

Wow, Sophie is a smart girl! I like your idea! I'll need to remember to do that!
What a great idea to send your kids off to school each day with a quote or thought. You ARE an awesome mom!!
I love the Live, Laugh, Love one. So sweet.
You are a fabulous mom. What a great idea.
What a great idea! What a great gift to your children. You continue to amaze me!
that's a cute idea! i just ordered vinyl lettering to put above my garage door that says "it's nice to be important but it's more important to be nice" with the same intention ... to give everyone a little reminder before they leave the house (i probably need it more then anyone else). i won't be creative like you and change it everyday (or any day lol) but it's a start!
That is such a great idea! I bet a long time from now, your wonderful kids will rememeber how you made their mornings great.
I love it, Tonya! I loved the "Believe in yourself" you used to tell Riley. I wondered what brought her out of her shell. Now I know, it was her awesome mom.
What a sweet thing for your daughter to say! You must be doing something right. ☺
That is so great! Mornings are not a good time for me, as my kids will attest. I love this idea!
I LOVE THAT!!! Really neat.
What a GREAT idea! I usually send Ben out the door with 'remember who you are and what you stand for' but that WILL get old after a while. Thanks for the inspiration...you are a great mom!!
