Something Old, Something New

I just wanted to show off some completed home projects that I recently finished using both OLD and NEW home goods. I LOVE how they turned out. First of all, I am a huge sucker for antiques. About two years ago I found this OLD window for 10.00 at a local antique store. I had no clue what to do with it, but the window just called to me, so I bought it and it made it's home behind my couch for the entire two years. A month or so ago I happened to be in Michaels Craft Store and saw this wreath. I knew that it belonged with my window so I got in line to pay the 14.99 I owed. To my amazement it rang up 4.50 on major clearance. So for 14.50 I was able to complete this project. My sweet hubby hung it for me. I love to walk up our staircase and see this everyday. Cute home decor just makes me smile:0)
Several years ago I bought this spice rack. It was in full use until 2 years ago when we remodeled our kitchen. It was too cute to get rid of, so I hung on to it. Again, I had no clue what I would ever do with it. A couple of weeks ago I had a vision. It should become our new mail/ junk holder. We still needed a place to hang our keys, so I went over to T.J. Maxx and found this hook for 9.99. A steal. So, for 10.00 we have an organized place to store our goods by the garage door. Love it!

For years my Mom has had this plate in her kitchen ( lower right hand). It once belonged to her Grandmother and I have admired it for a long time. I happened to mention my love for this plate to my Mom last time we were at their house and then asked if there was any possible way that she would ever let me display it in my house. Really I was wishful thinking, but out loud. I tell you, I LOVE antiques. I love that they have a story. I love that somebody at sometime had a use for them. I love the aged look of them. My Mom told me to go ahead and take my great-grandmothers plate. I am spoiled! I decided to put it with some other antique plates and bowls that I have collected over the years. I LOVE that this plate has a story from within my own family. I have no idea what that story is, but I am proud to have it in my home. Thanks Mom!

This is a close up of the plate. It has The Ten Commandments on it. Isn't it BEAUTIFUL?

Love them all! You're so talented and have "the eye" for different ways to use things.

When we came and visited you a year or so ago (has it really been that long?!)I LOVED how you used random china for your everyday plates! So cute!
