Happy Birthday Dear Rylie

10 years ago today the doctor laid you in my arms after 12 hard hours of labor. You were my first baby. You were the most amazing thing I think I had ever seen. I remember looking at you and feeling the most intense sense of amazement, love and fear. I think only a new baby can invoke all of those feelings all at the same time. How was I to take care of this little baby? I felt so inadequate. I felt so scared. I was petrified when we left the hospital. Now I had to learn to do it without the help of around the clock nurses. Luckliy your Daddy was so supportive and loving and encouraging. You were the most happy and loving baby. You brought into my life so much joy. I loved teaching you and playing with you. I remember when you were a little over a year old and we would make silly faces in the mirror and laugh and laugh and laugh. You truly became my little buddy and I loved taking you everywhere I went. I can hardly believe you are 10 now. I have loved watching you grow up. I remember when you were 4 years old and were asked to give a talk in primary. You were so scared and I ended up giving the talk for you. How is it that this same girl is such a chatter box and now confidently gives talks and school reports and amazes me with her knowledge of life? I really love the times that you confide in me and we have great conversations. It reminds me that you are no longer a child, but almost a young woman. I know that this growing up stuff can be really hard, but I believe in your ability to make good choices and live a happy and fulfilling life. You truly are my sweet gift from God and I love you so much! Happy birthday Ry-Ry!Rylie's celebration with the Tripp family.

Everybody is 1 this year because I can't seem to remember to buy candles when I go to the store.

Sorry about the picture at the very top Rylie! You were ticked off at me at the zoo when I snapped that picture, but I just couldn't resist posting it. That's what you get when you're a grumpy bum:0)

Happy Birthday Rylie!

When you think they are half way to 20, it gets really freaky.

Happy Birthday Rylie. I cannot believe that she is ten already. If I remember right, "What's that?" was asked repeatedly while we were visiting once.

What a sweet post. I really can't believe you all have a ten year old. I remember when I first met you Taunya and she was just a babe. Man, time flies. I can tell from your post Taunya, you are such a great pre-teen Momma. Lucky Rylie.

Happy Birthday Rylie!! Rylie is the sweetest girl in Primary. What a good example she is.

And I love the "1" birthday candle. It seems like I am always running to the store right before a birthday to get more candles. and since my kids are only 3 & 1, who knows where all the boxes of candles are going in between birthdays?
