Noelia & Ivy
This is Noelia. She is from Spain. Isn't she cute!?!
She is staying with us for a little over three weeks on an exchange program. This is her first ever trip to the U.S.A.
Oh, and she is 14 and has already studied abroad in England and Ireland. Two places I have never been but would love to visit someday!
During the day she attends English classes in downtown Portland and then we get to enjoy her in the evenings and on weekends.
This weekend we are taking her to the St. Paul Rodeo. Last weekend she got to experience all the Oregon hippy people at Saturday Market. In the photo above we were in the parking lot of St. Vincent hospital getting ready to go meet our new little nephew/cousin. I hope Noelia doesn't mind us dragging her along on our family adventures.
| Meet~ Adam Ryne Gold Congratulations, Jen & Joe. He's so sweet! |
I hope she will enjoy her experiences here and feel comfortable in our home.
As you can see, Ivy is already attached to her and asks Noelia to carry her around. Which she does with a smile on her face until she can't stand the weight of a 6 year old anymore.
We only had one scare when Noelia got lost in Portland on her second day of classes and came home two hours late. Luckily the nice Tri-Met bus driver helped her out and got her to the right stop. Yikes!
We were seriously getting really worried!
We like hosting exchange students. I think next time it would be fun to host a full immersion student who doesn't take classes and just hangs out with the family.
Have you ever hosted an exchange student? Was it a good experience? Would you?

She is seriously cute - her and Ivy look like they could be sisters! I am so impressed with her, I don't know if I could have ever been an exchange student! Tell her welcome to Oregon from the Moxley's! Oh and if you need any recipes from a fellow Spaniard let me know, my sisters boyfriend grew up in Mexico City and Spain!!
