Spring Break is a much looked forward to event in this house. Normally I would rent a beach house for a few days or have some fun, grand plan, but this year had no plans whatsoever.
Last month we took the kids to Great Wolf Lodge.
At the end of this month Matt and I celebrate our 14 year anniversary in Mexico. I can't wait!
This meant however that Spring Break needed to be simple and cheap. And I'm good with simple and cheap. Lucky for us we live in a great area that offers us many things to do. So my plan for keeping the kids happy during Spring Break week was simple day trips.
We went to the library. Played at the park. Played some mean games of tennis. Played with friends. Watched way to much TV. Hung out with Grammy and Papa. And other fun random things that I can't remember.
The only thing that I really wanted to do that we never did was go on a hike. The day we planned to do so it ended up pouring rain. Oregon's very own liquid sunshine. But I'm very much a fair weather hiker kind of chic and had no desire to listen to my little ones complain about being wet and cold, so I planned a movie picnic at home. A picnic blanket set up in the family room while we watched Ballet Shoes and feasted on burritos. And it was FUN!
We had a good week. The kids are happy to be back at school. I dreaded them going back. I really love it when they're home. But now that we're back in the swing of things I remember that I love those precious hours I have to myself. I really need to figure out my life for next year when all 4 kids are at school full time. It can't be possible that I am in this stage of my life already. Makes my heart hurt just a little. And I'm excited for what lies ahead. Figuring out this middle age stuff is kinda weird and makes me slightly emotional!

I hear you on the what to do when all the kids are in school full time. That's next year for me too and I all ready feel a little lost.
Sounds like you had a good time on Spring Break. We did some hiking in the rain and it wasn't bad.
Sounds like a great time Tonya! Simple is wonderful. I can't believe you'll have ALL of your kids in school full time next year! What must that feel like?
Sounds like fun. Happy anniversary! Hope you have a great trip to celebrate it!
