Last week I had surgery. Nothing major. Just some annoying feminine issues that needed to be corrected. Surprisingly I was much less loopy than I thought I would be after taking two Vicodin and two Valium all at the same time. Oh, and once I got to the clinic they gave me a shot of some other pain killer in my hip and a few pokes of local anesthetic, too. But unfortunately the surgery was still painful and I screamed at the doctor to HURRY FASTER several times. I think I would have rather been knocked out. Life isn't fair sometimes though, so I will not complain.
My dear husband took the day off so he could be my chauffeur for the day. Nobody needs a lady, loopy on drugs, driving on the freeway. It made me happy to have him by my side. He has the ability to put me at ease. And he's easy on the eyes. Both good qualities to possess. Dang, I love my man!
During the surgery my body started into uncontrollable chattering/jittering. Teeth chattering. Legs and arms shaking. I think this is the way my body reacts to pain. It's been a consistent during all four of my labors as well. The nurse got me a cold rag and laid it on my forehead. Matt held my hand. I was grateful to have such caring and compassionate people helping me. It made the pain more bearable.
This was a day surgery. I was finished at around noon. The clinic where we were was really close to my Mom and Dad's Pub. So Matt asked if I felt up to going there to grab something to eat. In my loopy state I told him that would be fine. We started to walk into the Timber Pub-N-Grub and my chattering started all over again. I think my Dad was a little concerned when he saw me. And I think my body was telling me to get home and rest. I have to say that the hamburger I ordered was the best I have ever eaten in my life. The Fireman Burger: Two all beef patties topped with jalapeno poppers, jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, swiss cheese and tomato. Holy yummness!
Once we got home I fell into bed and slept all afternoon. Vicodin does a good job of knocking me out. Our awesome friend Kari brought dinner that night. An AMAZING Chicken Tetrazzini dish that I must get the recipe for. Her husband gave me the funniest get well card. Inside, his note read," Sorry to hear you broke your uterus. Get better soon." It made me laugh. And my surgery really didn't have much to do with a broken uterus, so it made it even funnier!
The next day I was feeling a little better. I still needed the Vicodin, but I didn't feel as out of it and the pain wasn't as bad. Matt stayed around in the morning to make lunches and get the kids off to school. He went to work. I rested all day. My sweetest neighbor Christy took the kids after school and brought them home around dinner time along with a hot meal for my family. I felt so loved.
I feel so blessed to have such an amazing support system. Grandma who took Ivy the night before the surgery and made sure she got to school. How cool is a slumber party at Grandma's on a school night!?!Dinners. Phone Calls. Flowers. All these AMAZING people who love selflessly and fully. I want to be just like them.

So glad you're feeling better. That burger sounds AMAZING! Next time, grab one for me, would you?
Wow, wish I would have known. That must be why I haven't been able to get you off my mind lately. I was wondering if you wanted to go to the Stash Tea place with me next week? I hope you are feeling better.

I miss our walks!
I'm sorry to hear you had to go through surgery (and have to chuckle at the get well card), but happy to know it went well and that you're feeling better.
