It's Just Another Manic Monday

Monday's stink sometimes. I don't mean for this to be a negative post, but today has been a big fat stinker of a day. My morning started at 6:45 like this...
(Me)Wake up, it's time to get ready for school.
(Sophia crying)But Mom, I didn't sleep all night long! I was just getting ready to close my eyes when you woke me up!
(Me)You don't have a fever and you look healthy to me. Get up RIGHT NOW! Oh, and I love you.

That was the short version of our conversation.

With all the whining Ivy woke up, so we set off downstairs to make breakfast and lunches. Ivy must have thought that whining sounded like a great idea, so while I was making breakfast she attatched herself to my leg while she continuously chanted, HOLD ME! HOLD ME!HOLD ME! I managed to finish making breakfast with Ivy hanging on my hip. It was easier to multi task with her when she was smaller. Finally Rylie and Sophia made their way downstairs with 10 minutes to spare and started on their breakfast. Before Sophia's chocolate milk even touched her lips the cup tipped over and yep, you guessed it. Chocolate milk all over her, the table and the floor. No more white, sparkly shorts for Sophia. I didn't want to yell, so I just threw my arms up in the air and told Sophia to hurry and go upstairs and change. She cried. I cleaned up the mess. By the time the mess was cleaned up we were all calm, but time had run out to make lunches. Just take hot lunch today! The girls were happy as long it didn't ruin their chances of taking hot lunch on Thursday(they can usually only pick one day a week to take it). Poor Sophia had the hardest morning. By the time she left for school all was well. Now off to the laundry room. As I was taking out the load from the dryer something hard smacked into my upper lip. Stupid dryer ball! A pair of pajama bottoms had frayed on the bottom and the strings had wound themselved all around the dryer ball, so when I went to pull the clothes out of the dryer it created a sling shot motion. Dryer balls are supposed to make my clothes fluffy, not give me a fat lip. Whatever. I decided to free the dryer ball, but I was mad at the pants so they were tossed into the garbage. Dumb cheap pajama pants! Now the phone rings and this is what I hear.
(Matt) Honey, do you love me?
(Me)Yes, I love you. What did you do?
(Matt)I lost my wedding ring. I let Eli play with it at church yesterday and I forgot about it. I don't know where it is.
(Me) Eli, do you know where daddy's ring is?

Miraculously Eli had kept it safe during the last two hours of church and managed to get it home and put safely in his room. Hooray! What an awesome 5 year old! This day might not be so bad.
Phone rings again.
(Sandy at Errol Hassell)Hi, I have Sophia hear saying she doesn't feel well and I found evidence of head lice.
(Me) You are kidding! Right?
(Sandy) No, Tonya I wouldn't kid about that.
(Me) I'll be right there!

So off I went to pick up Sophia from school. Had the school do a lice check on Rylie. Yay! She is o.k., but I will treat her regardless. I will do a precautionary treatment on everyone. YUCK! What evil little critters. I wonder if there will be a full moon tonight. Aren't weird things supposed to happen on full moon days and nights? This is definately a weird day. So, that's been my manic Monday so far and it's only 3:50. I will stay positive. Family is a blessing. Life could be much worse. That's the end of my rant for now. So, how was your day?

Can you hear me humming this Bangles song??? :)

What a horrid Monday. I am so sorry. I just got off the phone with a friend in the ward telling me about another family with lice. What a bummer. They ARE evil critters. Hope noone else in your home gets it. Yuck!

Good for you for not yelling this morning. I probably would've. I'm bad that way.

Hope tomorrow is better than today!!

Well, it appears you have ticked the Universe off and it has backslapped you now. Wow! That is not a good day. Hopefully, you've just experienced this entire weeks ickiness in one fell swoop and now it will be smooth sailing. :-) Best wishes on that one.

So sorry! It's nice to know that those days will pass and good ones will come. But I certainly know how you feel. Hope the rest of the day was better.

I so have had those kind of days. But I love that I wasn't the only one. I think life is just trying to make up for all of the great days you had on vacation. It is just balancing out. I love that you share your real life!

Wow! Your day sounds remarkably familiar. I had an early morning too, with an upset child who didn't want to go to his last day of soccer class, throw in a few more tantrums just because . . . and that was before nap time.

Hope your day gets better tomorrow.

And yet when I talked to you, you were chipper and laughing...I wish I could be stressed out and as fun to talk to at the same time. Just more evidence that you are AMAZING! I hope the rest of the week goes better!

Mornings like that go down in History huh? I hope your week has improved a tiny bit. My girls get to pick one day to have hot lunch too. And when we have hard mornings I am often heard to be saying "just have hot lunch today." and then they say "but can I still have hot lunch on Thursday?" so that part of your post definitely made me smile.

That's pretty harsh! Sorry man. The dryer ball would have really pushed me over the edge. How great that Eli kept Matt's ring safe though! He is so adorable! I hope your week has gone better since Manic Monday.

You and Matt should rent The Office! Its hilarious! Its not a good one for the kids though, so watch it after they go to bed. It's a little risque at times but mostly the kids just wouldn't understand and appreciate the humor aside from the risque-ness!

I am a total die hard fan of Lost as well! I love it, love it, love it! Can't wait to see what happens next!

awww! i'm so sorry that was your monday! yay for eli, though! i love how you knew something was wrong when matt started his conversation with, "do you love me?"

You are so funny! This may be mean of me to say but it's nice to hear other people have days like I do. :)
I had a day like that about a week ago. It started with the kids getting locked in the van with the keys and me having to call a locksmith. Not even an hour later Spence squeezed body wash all over the bathroom wall and floor and without being too graphic he whiped poopy fingers all over the same bathroom. I'll just say a certain three year old has figured out he can get away with just about anything while I'm busy nursing. Arne't kids/life funny?!

Oh Tonya, I just love you! I love that you tell it as it is. Sorry you had such a lousy day.

Read my post from yesterday, and you'll know you're not alone.

BTW, Eli has given me hope in responsible five year olds.

Aquaerobics this week? Had a blast last week. Thanks!
