Beautiful Sunday

We woke up to snow!

A whole less than an inch. But that just happens to be HUGE news here in Oregon.
I was really expecting church to be cancelled. School surely would have been. But church resumed. It was a lovely sight to behold the white blanket of snow on our drive this morning. And with the sun shining brightly in the sky, the day felt almost magical. Just beautiful.

And of course the kids were ecstatic!

Sophia and Ivy tried out the sleds. On a thin sheet of snow it just didn't work out so well. But still, there was snow and that made them happy.

Ivy's new love is jump roping. And not just jump roping, but scarf jumping. She loves to jump with the scarf my sister knitted me for my birthday a few years back. She begs me to jump with her. It's fun, but my bladder can hardly handle it.

Kris Boswell taught the lesson in Relief Society today. The topic was love thy neighbor as thy self. I loved the lesson. It goes along with one of my New Years resolutions, which is to reach out to others more freely, even when it feels hard. So, there were things said today that I needed to hear. Good reminders that love is a verb. It takes action to show love. At the end of the lesson Kris handed out these crystals. A reminder that just as a crystal reflects light, I too can reflect light and love those around me.

"Because LOVE is the great commandment, it ought to be at the center of all and everything we do in our own family, in our church callings, and in our livelihood. LOVE is the healing balm that repairs rifts in personal and family relationships. It is the bond that units families, communities, and nations. LOVE is the power that initiates friendship, tolerance, civility, and respect. It is the source that overcomes divisiveness and hate. LOVE is the fire that warms our lives with unparalleled joy and divine hope. LOVE should be our walk and our talk." ~ Dieter F. Uchtdorf

We were hoping for church to get cancelled, too but no luck. However, I agree it was lovely going to church with the beautiful white snow on the ground!

Loved your jumping rope-bladder comment :)

"Love should be our walk and our talk"- What a great quote from Pres Uchtdorf and such a good reminder...thanks for sharing!
