Prick

Ivy kept saying her side hurt. I asked her if she twisted wrong. She kept wincing in pain. My mind wondered if she was at the beginnings of a major attack of some sort. Gall bladder, maybe?

We were sitting in church on Christmas day and she was wearing her brand new Christmas dress.

Something told me to unbutton the back of her dress and to feel around on the inside of her dress. Maybe the plastic from a tag was to blame. Or maybe there was a scratchy tag sewn on the side.

I would get to the bottom of this.

All of a sudden I felt a poke. And it hurt!

I looked closer, and just inside the seam, right under her armpit, I could see a tiny, tiny flicker of silver. I touched it. Yep, that really hurt. And then I could see little scratches on Ivy's side. But I couldn't get it out. I still thought it was a shiny piece of plastic from the tag.

I asked Matt if he had his Leatherman, or something I could use to get a good grasp on it and pull it out. He used his fingernails and yanked it.

And what emerged was the broken tip of a needle.

Yikes!!!

No wonder my 6 year old babe was in pain.

Holy, prick-a-moly!

Poor girl! You might say something to the company you got the dress from. So glad you followed your prompting.

poor thing:( that is so sad and unsettling. I am so glad you figured it out. Kids have a hard time expressing their frustrations and pains. I am so glad you thought to check and to get to the bottom of it.

You know how many people would have already started a law suit by now. :)
