Silly Girls

When I was tweeny bopper I used to think Adam Curry was the most beautiful man alive. That was before New Kids On The Block came into town and I switched my love over to Joe. I used to sit and watch Adam on MTV and gush over how hot I thought he was. Whatever I was thinking I will never know. Maybe it was the hair, maybe it was the earring, maybe the vest or that mole on his neck? Anyways, I had totally forgotten about this past crush of mine until Rylie and I were driving along the other night and she asked me who I had a crush on when I was about her age. After a few minutes of thinking Adam's face popped into my head and all my memories came flooding back. She found great joy ( I could tell from the giggles) in listening to me tell her about this cute, blonde headed, rocker guy that used to be a video jockey for MTV. I was being very dramatic just to freak her out a bit. After I spilled about my childhood crush I asked her why she was so curious. That's when the topic of conversation turned to

Joe Jonas! This was how part of the conversation went...

Rylie- Mom, he is so cute. You know how I have been sketching my wedding dress designs and bridesmaid dress designs? I don't really have a great idea for a wedding cake yet, but Mom, he is so cute!

Me- Ya know Rylie, you're only 10. You should date a few guys when you get A LOT older and you should probably finish high school. I didn't marry Adam you know.

Rylie- Ya, duh Mom, but it's probably because you weren't prepared.

So, there you have it. I didn't marry Adam Curry because I did not prepare properly. I should have spent much more time sketching and then all of my wildest dreams would have come true. How did my daughter get to be so wise? She is silly girl #1.

On Sunday afternoon I was just dosing off when Ivy came barging into my room and asked if she could lay with me. I pulled her into my bed and she started to jabber, so I made a fake snoring sound. She thought it was so funny. For the next 30 minutes we made all sorts of snoring noises. We tried to mimic Grammy and Papa and Daddy. We laughed so hard we were crying. It got to the point that we would just look at each other and bust up laughing. It was so much fun to hang out with my Ivy. At the end of our fun I really was tired so I told Ivy that it was time to go to sleep. "But Mommy, just one more snork!" she said. " Ivy, it's called snoring. Say snore." " No Mommy, say snork! Just do a snork Mommy!". Needless to say, she didn't believe me that snork is not a word. I finally let the topic drop because really, snork is a pretty cool word and I was really sleepy. I did get my beauty rest that afternoon, but snorking with Ivy was definately worth my interuppted slumber. In fact, I can't wait to snork with you soon Ives. It was a blast.
