My Old Stompin' Grounds

This last weekend our family packed into the mini van and headed south to Eugene. It had been at least 7 years for me and even longer for Matt since we had been to that part of Oregon. About a month ago my friend Kirsten called and said that she was planning a reunion party at her house. It would be our chance to visit old friends, show off kids and reminisce about old times. I wasn't going to miss this! Here's Kirsten and I looking at old photo albums and remembering dances, weirdos we dated, trips to Florence, and tons of other great times. Oh Kirsten, I finally remembered the name of the guy I went on a date with who told me I was 4th in line in his black book, but all the other girls had been crossed off, so really I was at the top now. Then he stared at me through the entire movie. I finally covered the side of my face with my hand and hissed at him to stare at the movie and take his eyes of of me. Yeah Brent, you're a goober. That was our first and last date. Such funny memories! Matt was such a good sport. He had no clue about the people we were blabbing about. On the way home that night he said. "Yeah, I had a good time, but this is what you guys sounded like for hours, "Oh, do you remember so and so....ha!ha!ha!....yah that was so funny. Oh and do you remember when this and this and this happened...." Matt said we went round and round and round like that for a really long time. It was a blast though:0)
We surely could not miss out on our chance to get huge burritos at Burrito Boy. This place was definitely one of my favorites. Matt got hooked on one of our trips to Eugene at least 9 years ago. It was fun to take my own kids there and it was still a small taste of heaven. YUM!

I would have felt so sad if I had not taken the time to go and see one of my very best friends from high school. Dani and I had some great times together. After high school we even got a job working at Merry Maids. We were cleaning buddies and I had to laugh when Dani reminded me of the time that we were cleaning a house and getting ready to leave. I was behind the wheel and Dani and I were engrossed in some conversation when the next thing we knew I had driven into the garage door. There was a dent, but we concluded that maybe the dent had been there all along and it really wasn't my fault. We drove away and never said anything. The owners of the house never said anything either. So, maybe the dent really was there before I drove into it? Here's me and Matt and Dani and her husband Mike. It was really fun visiting with you guys!

Me and Dani.

My monkeys and Dani's little Emma sandwiched between Eli and Rylie. What cute little things.

We got home at about 11:00 Saturday night. Ivy was exhausted, so I just had to giggle and snap a picture of this. It cracked me up that in her exhaustion she had taken the time to tuck her barbies into bed with her. This was the second night in a row that I had walked into her room to witness this. We had a fabulous day in Eugene:0) Rachel, I was bummed that we didn't get to see you and your family. I guess that means another trip to Eugene is in order?

I'm glad you got a chance to go back to you Eugene! It's like a second hometown for me, where I spent most of my adult life. When people ask me where I'm from, I have to tell them Hermiston... but, it's Eugene that feels like home now.

Of course, with Emily's parents and sister living there, Hoodoo's corporate office just up the road in Coburg and our UO football season tickets... we spend a lot of time there. I've already been there twice in the last week... and I'm going again today!!

Oh, and you're right... Burrito Boy is awesome! :)

I KNOOOOOOW! I'm so bummed I didn't get a chance to see you while you were here. At least we got that quick little hello at TOFW, right??

So yes, another trip to Eugene is just fine with me.

I'm so glad you got to see Dani. Can you believe we're in the same ward? How cool is that?!

Glad you had such a fun visit down here...

I'm sitting here in shock. Just plain shock. what do you mean you haven't been to "that part of Oregon" in SEVEN years? "that part of Oregon" is only 2 hours away Tonya! I had no idea. I guess I figured you went all the time since you are from there. I'm glad you got to go back. I love Eugene and I'd move back there in a heartbeat. All i would need is the word from Chris that he had a job there and I'd be loading my pillow in the van and on my way.

That last picture of Lily is the best picture ever. She is smiling! It's so great.

How fun for you! Love the picture of Ivy- Nate is going thru that right now too- must be the age. He has is Diego Doll, Verne from over the hedge, Jub jub- a toy from a fast food resturant, and sometimes his tiny little lizard, as well as several hot wheels. One of them even has their own blankets and he can't sleep until his "boys" are with him and all ready for bed. He is not the dad, but the brother. I guess this is his chance to get a brother. lol. I will need to snap a picture of him- its sooo cute! I love the smile on her face.

I love the barbies. Chase tucks his 3 Elmos, 3 monkeys, and 1 elephant in with him every night.
