When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade

My Aunt Janet sent this video to me today via e-mail and I was so struck by what this man had to say. For the last couple of months I have found myself thinking alot about how precious life is and how valuable each minute of everyday is. As I was driving along one day recently I started thinking about how much can really happen in one minute. One minute I am anticipating the birth of a new baby and in the next I am a Mom. One minute I could be driving along, singing "Zippity-do-da" and in the next I could be mowed over by a city bus. Just this week as we were out in the front yard a group of kids went buzzing by on their scooters when all of a sudden one of the teenage boys flew off his scooter and we watched him land and drag right on his face. We were able to help him to our driveway and get him wet towels. There was alot of blood. His tooth was completely pushed back. He had a hole somewhere between his nose and lip. He was in bad shape. Luckily with a few stitches he was o.k., but his life was changed in under one minute. We never know how life might turn on us, but we can live our lives with joy and purpose. I admire the way that this man has chosen to live his life. This video takes about 10 minutes to watch, but it is well worth it. I came away with a stronger resolve to live more fully, to find more joy in the wonderful people who surround me, to be more positive and look for the positive qualities in others, and to be the best wife, mom, daughter and friend that I can possibly be. I hope you find this video uplifting and inspiring, just as it was to me. (remember to turn off my playlist so you can hear!)

I saw this not too long ago via email then again on the Oprah show itself. He's amazing.
I love his Tigger/Eeyore analogy. Makes me think... and want to be better.

That was really good and definitely worth the ten minutes to watch it. The way he ended it really got to me. I know he doesn't want pity, but it doesn't change the fact that it is so heartbreaking that he won't be there to watch his children grow up. It's good he's focused on making the best of his time. That was really neat and definitely has a strong impact!

Amazing. It was such a great speech from a great person. At the end it made me cry like a baby when they showed the picture of his children.

Very cool video. I gave Cassandra the "last lecture" book as a mothers' day gift this year. I love the message.
